Fix Windows 10 Doesn't Shut Down Properly

Windows 10 shut down problem normally cause by software version (unstable version) or unstable Software configuration. Instead of shutting down, your computer keep hibernating with the power light on and this is common for HP notebook.

Solution 1: Disable Hybrid Shutdown
The most common reason for Windows 8 and Windows 10 unable to shut down completely due hybrid shutdown, this feature enable by default in Windows 8 and 10 increase shut down time but decrease your boot time. To disable this feature:

1. Right Click on start and select power option and select choose what the power button do on the left panel.


2. Click on "Change setting that currently unavailable"
3. Now to disable the hybrid shut down, uncheck the "Turn on fast start-up (recommended). Click save changes and we are done. Your setting should look like this:


Solution 2:Power Drain (For HP Notebook)
1. Turn off your laptop by pressing the Power Button 5-6 seconds (hard Shout Down).
2. Remove the Power Chord and Battery.
3. Press the start button for 25-30 Seconds.
Now plug in the power the power chord and battery and test if it solve your problem.


Solution 3: Enable Intel Virtualization Technology
This solution applicable for Notebook with Intel Processor and not all Intel processor support Virtualization Technology.
1. First install Intel Processor Identification Utility.
2. Install and go to CPU Technologies and make sure the virtualization technologies is marked with YES.

3. Restrat your computer (or do the hard shut down then power on again). Enter BIOS, to enter BIOS, during power on press the BIOS key, your laptop has been assign with specific BIOS key such as F10. The most common are ESC, DEL, F2, F6 , F10 and F12.
4. On the BIOS page navigate to Advance option and enable the Virtualization technology. The location of the Virtualization setting is different depend on your notebook BIOS.


Solution 4 : Downgrade your Intel Management Engine. (Only for Model with Intel Processor)
It's a known issue that 11.xx Intel management Engine Interface could mess with shut down time and sleep option. The stable version would be 9.5xx or your original driver version (before update). Just rollback the driver to return to the previous version in device manager.(right click - properties - roll back driver)

You can also uninstall current version and download and install 9.5 version.


Solution 5 : Disable USB suspend Selection Setting
1. Go to power option, click on the plan you currently use and select advance setting.

2. Scroll down until USB Selective suspend setting.Press the + icon to expand. Disable both on battery and plugged in.

Solution 6: Disable Coolsense technology (HP Model)

1. Open command prompt as admin.

2. Copy and paste this line:
